01
Sydney roots
John grew up in Sydney playing rugby, Australian rules football, and soccer. That multi-sport upbringing shaped the foundation every specialist career is built on: body awareness, field IQ, and a competitive standard set long before the position was ever chosen.
02
Western Kentucky
A Division I scholarship took John to Western Kentucky University. Across three seasons with the Hilltoppers (2019 to 2021) he set the program's single-season punting average record every year, capped by a 48.7 yard average in his senior season — the highest ever recorded in WKU history.
03
The professional
Selected in the first round (4th overall) by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2022 CFL Global Draft, John has started at punter for the club ever since. He won the 109th Grey Cup as a rookie, led the CFL in punting average in 2023, and in 2024 averaged 50.3 yards per punt. That season closed with a second Grey Cup ring in the 111th championship.
04
The 2NINE mission
2NINE Academy exists to make athletes self-sufficient. Not dependent on a coach forever, but equipped with the systems, the mindset, and the standard to develop on their own for the length of a career. The discipline and quiet professionalism that built John's career is what every athlete inside this academy is built on.

Numbers that don't need an introduction.
Every figure below was set in the professional game with the Argonauts. No projections. No college lines. Just the ledger.
The highest career punting average in the league — bar one technicality: the all-time record requires a minimum of 1,000 career punts to qualify. Give it time. 😏
